He was born on 11th June, 1897, in a nondescript village in Uttar Pradesh Shahjahanpur district. His parents were Moolmati and Murlidhar.
His life tenure was not a long one, he only lived for 30 years, but did many great work for his country and countrymen.
He joined the Arya Samaj which was founded by Dayananda Saraswati in 1875. This had a esoteric influence on him, he often employed poetry as his weapon of choice in the fight against the imperialist forces.
The ideals of revolution first took root in his mind when he read the death sentence awarded to Bhai Parmanand, an Indian nationalist and Arya Samaj missionary. Bismil was just 18 then and unleashed his anguish through his poem Mera Janm. His views were in austere contrast to Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of 'Ahimsa'.
